THE CONTEXT

Cosmic Pulse is an arts and music festival created to celebrate the transformative power of dance while honoring the legacy of Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Named as a tribute to the nightclub and the lives lost in the 2016 tragedy, the festival serves as a reminder of the resilience of the queer community and its future. Cosmic Pulse brings together diverse artists, allies, and attendees to connect, celebrate, and embrace the vibrancy of queer culture through music, art, and movement.

THE APPROACH

The visual identity for Cosmic Pulse draws inspiration from the Pulse nightclub logo and the music within. Visual sonic pulses replicate the rhythm of music and form the basis for the graphic language, evolving into "sonic flowers" used across the branding and scaled up into immersive art installations at the festival.

The color palette incorporates the rainbow flag, balancing gentle tones like periwinkle with bold hues like red to convey warmth, vitality, and inclusivity. Typography choices—Playground Medium, New Science Bold, and Space Grotesk Bold—add a futuristic yet approachable tone. The custom sine wave adjustment of the Cosmic Pulse logo further reinforces the festival's connection to music and movement.

The artist lineup includes a diverse mix of queer performers and allies such as Arca, Blood Orange, Chappell Roan, and Young Fathers, underscoring the festival's commitment to amplifying queer voices and fostering community.

Cosmic Pulse delivers a vibrant, cohesive brand experience that celebrates the queer community's creativity, resilience, and future. The dynamic identity extends across all touchpoints, from promotional materials to on-site installations. The digital "sonic flowers" unify the branding, creating both functional and artistic elements that enhance the festival experience.
